Just remember that whatever means you choose to clear up any fertility problems you may have, the end result is definitely worth anything that you have to go through to get there, and if it means you have to go down the longer route of more than one course of treatment , then so be it. When you first started down the road of wanting ideas on how to get pregnant, you were full of hope, and the dreams of a beautiful little baby, so whatever you have to do to get there, remember where you started.

The most important piece of advice that should ever be given to you when you are trying to find out how to get pregnant, is get yourself a really good, and well recommended, Obstetric Gynecologist. Talk to friends, and maybe other women in any groups you belong to, so that you can get a picture of the sort of specialist you need. I can promise you, that as you go through this journey, you will be very pleased that you took this time at the start, because this person will end up being one of the most important people in your life. The second piece of advice that will be of great value, is, do not listen to everything that you are told by friends, and acquaintances, they mean well, but they are not you. You can get so caught up in what you have been told, and different things that people tell you to try, that you get yourself so stressed, which in turn is a bad state for you to conceive anyway. A good rule of thumb is, listen to your body. Only you can know what it feels like to be you. You know how you are feeling on any given day, whether you are happy, relaxed, a bit sad etc. So the answer is to listen and take notice of how you feel. The first thing that you need to do when you have made the very important decision to have a baby, is to find the Obstetric Gynecologist that we talked about, and pay them a visit. This first positive step is a very important one. This will be the start of a special Doctor patient relationship that will grow as you get nearer that goal of having your beautiful new baby, and you will have built a huge trust relationship during this time. If you start on this road, and at any time feel that this relationship is not right for you, change it. You will know almost straight away, and as this is a person you need to trust with your babies first years, this needs to be right. Your first visit to your new OBGYN will begin with an assessment of your health. You may think that the answers on how to get pregnant will all be answered by this visit, but this is only the beginning. It is very important to make sure there are no underlying health issues that could become a problem later in your pregnancy, or something that may stop you from conceiving your baby easily. Usually, if there is anything, it is quite minor and your OBGYN will take the steps to get it sorted, so that you can move on. You will leave this first visit with some prenatal vitamins which will help keep your bodies resources up, and you will most likely be given some advice on how to track your ovulation, which of course will improve your chances of getting pregnant. Tracking your ovulation is a basic way of keeping track of when your body is in the best state to conceive. Some women like the body temperature chart method to track their ovulation. This is not always the most successful way to check for ovulation though, as many women do not have a regular ovulation period, so it is harder for them to pinpoint their exact ovulation window. A Fertility Monitor is a more reliable tool for tracking your fertility times, and is a lot more accurate. This amazing little tool tracks a thing called Luteinizing hormone (LH). This hormone increases about twenty four to forty eight hours before ovulation. To explain further, the surge of this (LH) hormone triggers the release of the egg, and knowing when all this is going on, is a very useful tool in your bid to conceive. There are other little tips that can help also. It has been shown that women who have sex frequently have a greater chance of getting pregnant because of the regularity of intercourse. There are very few missed opportunities for conception in this instance. It is a fact that sperm live longer than eggs, 3 to 5 days approximately, so having regular sex before ovulation makes sense. One other point that is quite important for couples that are trying to conceive, and that is to relax. Enjoyable, and relaxing sex is all important when you are trying to get pregnant. Using the missionary position is also recommended because it allows the sperm to be drawn up into the uterus a little easier. It is also said that if you stay lying where you are for a wee while after sex, it will also help keep the sperm in the vagina a little longer. This is all approved from OBGYNs everywhere. Getting good advice on how to get pregnant needs to come from their guidance, or you family doctor.

We have already covered your pre pregnancy health and fitness, while we were discussing how to get pregnant, but in the beginning of this article, we will look more in depth at what sort of exercise is safe, and how much of it you can do. A lot of you will already have an exercise regime and are really good at keeping it up. Others of you will not have this same discipline, and you will need to take up some form of regular exercise.

In earlier times, up to the 1950s, women got their exercise from taking care of their husband and children, and of course housework. Now before you start getting all upset, and start ranting about the fact that you still have to look after a partner, and maybe children, and also do housework, let me remind you, that back then, women did not have all the modern conveniences that you have today.

Clothes were washed in a boiler, or by hand, then rung and hung out to dry. This probably doesn’t sound so bad, until you find out that the sheets, towels, and other large items were still heavy with water and had to literally be thrown over the line, if you have never tried it, old magazine write ups describe it as strenuous. We have a machine that washes our clothes for us, then it spins them nearly dry, and then if the weather is bad, or we get too busy, or just get plain lazy, we have a machine that dries it for us. So you can see why they had a more physical lifestyle.

Washing wasn’t the only way these women got their exercise. There was no car to run to the shop in, or pick up the children from school, or go visit a friend. If you wanted to do any of these things, you had to walk, and even if there was a family car, it was used by dad to go to work. The list goes on but I think you know what I mean, and this is why there is a need for young women wanting to get pregnant, or those that already are, to get some good exercise, and when it comes to later in your pregnancy, or at your delivery, you will be glad you did.

So lets continue on the path that will keep you healthy, now that you have learned a bit more on the principles of how to get pregnant. The first good piece of advice is, if you are not currently doing much exercise, start slowly. It must be pointed out here, that if you know that you are in any of the high risk categories, such as, heart disease, lung disease, or any other risk factor you think you might have, you must get the advice from your Obstetric gynecologist, this is always good advice even if you are not high risk.

Right, so back to you beginners. Start with your exercise three times a week, for fifteen to twenty minutes. Try to do this on alternate days to start. Make this first exercise a walk. Walking uses all the muscles in your body, and is a better form of exercise than running. Do not go at it too hard. If you feel that it is too much at first, slow down and walk slowly, this is still goo, and better than sitting in front of the television. Another important point is that you must watch the temperature you are walking in. If it is really warm, wear cool clothes, but also try to walk in the cooler part of the day. The same in the colder weather, dress warmly, and be aware of the temperature around you. Your walking is the best form of exercise you can do during pregnancy. It is not only safe, but it improves your cardiovascular fitness, and if you have never done much of any form of exercise, it’s the perfect start, and you can add to your times as you feel your body reaching each level you have set for yourself.

Swimming is also another good form of exercise that uses your whole body. The advantage with swimming is that it puts very little stress on your joints, and and even bigger bonus, is that when you are in the later stages of your pregnancy, the water will support your weight and give you a relaxing break from carrying your precious load around for a wee while. If you like yoga, there is a very good range of prenatal exercises that are gentle, and will help keep you flexible and strong, and has the excellent benefit of helping ease any tension you may be feeling.

There are, of course, some forms of exercise that are too high risk, and must be avoided. These forms of exercise include anything that may cause a hard fall, or any type of tumble. Horseback riding, snowboarding, downhill skiing, water skiing, scuba diving, some forms of motor sport, are all off limits, and it is never advisable to even attempt these at any stage of your pregnancy.

This concludes our first set of articles on how to get pregnant. The advice and information in them is well researched, and we hoped it has helped, but the very first thing you need to do now is, as we advised, get yourself a good obstetric gynecologist.

When you have found yourself a good Obstetric Gynecologist, and they have given you the first tools you need, how to get pregnant will no longer be the mystery it once was. You will now be on the road to an exciting new chapter in your life as you look forward to becoming a parent. You will have been given guidelines from your doctor to keep you on track for your dream, and you will have prenatal vitamins to take for your health, and your babies.

The next very important thing to look at is your diet, and your daily habits, because these are the very things that will affect your chances of conceiving your precious baby. The immediate things that need to be addressed, are the three things that you can not do if you wish to conceive easily, or if you want a healthy pregnancy, and a healthy baby.

The first of these is smoking. If you are a smoker, it is in yours, and your babies best interest to stop immediately. We all know the risks of smoking to our health, but when we are about to embark on a new journey down the road to parenthood, it presents a whole new set of responsibilities. For a start smokers have more trouble with conception. If you are trying to get pregnant and you smoke, there is a higher risk of you not conceiving, and a higher miscarriage risk if you do, so this is one of the things that you must consider when you decide to have a baby. The other negative if you are a smoker, is that it puts you in danger of infections, and other things, that may stop you from taking proper care of your baby in the future. Being a smoker,  if it is necessary for you to undergo an anesthetic for an emergency Cesarean to deliver your baby, you are at high risk for a chest infection and other complications post op, so really, I ask you, is it worth it.

Now lets look at the next, but no less important substance, Alcohol. If you are a light social drinker, then this will not be a problem for you. When you are trying to conceive it is a good idea not to put anything in your system that may affect your chance of conceiving, or having a healthy baby. Alcohol is one of the things that can change all that, so if you are trying to conceive, give up alcohol. Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can cause Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. This is caused when the alcohol affects the fetus in the uterus, and causes mental, and often physical abnormalities in your babies growth and continues after birth. It shows itself in your child with learning and behavior problems, and other ongoing health issues. This is not the start your baby needs in their life, and when you are endeavoring to find out how to get pregnant, don’t even go any further if you can not sort this first. If you want to be a parent, and your aim is to have a happy and healthy baby, then give up drinking before you go any further.

The third, but among the most destructive, is drugs. If you are a high drug user, get yourself clean, before you go down the road to parenthood. Nobody better than you knows what being an addict is like, and if you are using drugs during your pregnancy, your baby could be born with all sorts of problems, in fact too many to list. The worst of all of these things, is that there is every chance that your baby will be born being affected, and withdrawing, so rid yourself of any drug substances before you even consider getting pregnant, and you, and your baby will benefit from this.

There are other things that you can watch in your diet that will add to your chances of conception. Chocolate, and caffeine actually lower your bodies ability to absorb calcium, and iron. This is an important fact when it comes to fertility because lower calcium and iron levels, can lower fertility by 27 percent. Another of the things that you should drop from your diet is artificial sweetener. This has been known to affect your fertility levels due to the active ingredient phenylalanine.

Because your body is going to go through many many changes during your pregnancy, it is a good idea to make sure you are in the best health possible. This also helps as your pregnancy progresses and there is more strain put on your bodies joints, muscles, and organs. Regular exercise will help with fitness and relaxation, which in turn will help keep you fit, and will aid in conception.

All of the things in these articles are designed to give you the very best advice when you are trying to get pregnant, and how to keep yourself healthy in the process. We have other articles on how to get pregnant so stay tuned, you won’t be sorry.

If you have read our other articles on how to get pregnant, you will already be familiar with the recommended steps that you can take to conceive, and how you should prepare yourself, but, after you have been on birth control, and then decide that it is time to start your family, things do not always go as planned. Do not despair, there are hundreds of people just like you, that have started out with this hurdle in front of them, and are now proud parents of their perfect family. The first thing you need to do though, when you have decided to get pregnant is stop birth control immediately you decide.

There can be many reasons that you may be finding it difficult to conceive after being on birth control. It often takes a little while for a womans body to get itself back to a regular,
and normal menstrual cycle, especially after the pill, and you may just need to be a little patient. The signals between the pituitary, and reproductive organs, need to start communicating with each other in a normal way again, this can happen in a few days, but it can sometimes take longer. The very best person to advise you in this is your obstetric gynecologist, so you need to see them if you are at all concerned, or you think it is taking longer than it should. Being under the care of you obstetric gynecologist during the time you are trying to get pregnant is definitely advisable.

If you have had an IUD fitted, get it removed immediately. Again you will need to give your body time to adjust to not having the IUD, and let things get back to normal, once again, there is no time limit for this, and each persons body will deal with it in its own way. Although we are all different, most doctors will agree that it takes about three menstrual cycles after giving up birth control, for your menstrual cycle to get back to its regular rhythm. Use this time to get as healthy as you can. If you have been a bit unfit, start walking or exercising on a regular basis, this really helps. You have probably been given lots of advice from friends, and family on how to get pregnant, but just remind them nicely, that this is your journey, and it will not be the same as theirs. As we stressed in an earlier article, listen to your body, not other peoples bad stories, or well intended advice.

A very important part of preparing yourself for pregnancy is your diet. This is a huge factor for successful reproduction. A womans body needs a good balanced healthy and regular diet, to prepare herself for pregnancy, and motherhood. Plenty of natural vitamins are required to keep your body working to its peak, and you will get those from eating things like whole grains, some dairy products, lean meats, and plenty of vegetables, that include greens like broccoli, beans, cabbage, and asparagus. Avocado is a great addition to your diet also. The oil from avocado is a cholesterol lowering oil in the monounsaturated fat family, an along with nuts, and olives, they can only add to your good health. Your fats are an important part of your diet, so learn about what you can have, and what is bad for you.

Polyunsaturated fats are good for you. These fats contain omega-3 fatty acids like DHA and ALA. These are crucial for the healthy development of your baby, you also get omega – 6 fatty acids in polyunsaturated fats. You can get omega-3′s from fish, but be very careful about which fish you eat. There are some types of fish that contain high levels of mercury, which of course would not be so good for you or your growing baby. Monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fats also contain vitamin E, which is not always in the American diet, but just remember these two fats are the only safe ones for you and your baby.

There are many foods that you should not eat while you are trying to conceive, or during your pregnancy. Its a bit like judging bullets when you try to put a meal together during pregnancy, or when you are preparing your body for conception. There are many foods that come into the danger zone, and should be avoided. You will be told all sorts of do’s and don’ts, but once again do not listen. Get your advice from your doctor. They will give you a list of what you can eat, and what you can not. Your doctors list will include a list of things to avoid like: Sushi, Alcohol, Soft Cheeses, raw seafood, and there will be others, but it all comes down to being sensible. If you are unsure, don’t eat it until you have checked first. In conclusion, it must be stressed that your diet plays an important part in everything you do, from knowing how to get pregnant, to the beautiful conclusion, of bringing your new baby into the world in the best possible health.
